City Council Woman Avoiding Service
In San Bernardino California, the city recall group says that a council woman is dodging service. The Groups says Wendy McCammack has hidden from process servers and lied about who she was to the process server. Her avoidance interferes with the timelines to get recalls for all seven council members, the mayor and the city attorney. The group cannot begin collecting signatures to put the recall on the ballot until seven days after she accepts the notice of intention to circulate recall petitions.
But the bigger issue is what the alleged obstruction demonstrates, according to Scott Beard, the responsible officer for the group behind the recall attempt.
“What we are seeing in a current situation with Council Member Wendy McCammack is (symptomatic) of the lack of bravery and integrity this city’s leadership has shown over the course of the last few years,” Beard wrote in a statement. “…This is plainly leadership on the run and demonstrates how dysfunctional our city government really can be. Council Member McCammack’s actions are similar to a fugitive on the run attempting to dodge justice. ”
